Butte College Concurrent Enrollment

The Concurrent Enrollment program allows students to supplement their high school education by attending Butte College courses. Credits earned through the program may be used to fulfill high school and college requirements. A 3-unit class taken at Butte College equals 10 high school credits. Students may participate as long as they are enrolled and completing at least 20 high school credits each semester through Hearthstone and are in good academic standing.

Students should begin by discussing concurrent enrollment with their teacher. Teachers will need to complete a concurrent enrollment worksheet with the student. Once Bill Brent, the Student Support Advisor receives the completed worksheet, he will call and set an appointment to meet with the student and parent for the necessary signatures. Students should review the Hearthstone-Butte College Articulation Guide to determine which courses meet core high school graduation requirements. Contact Bill by email or at ext. 151.

College Connections

Seniors who participate in College Connections will spend most of their time on the Butte College campus; taking one or two high school courses with Hearthstone teacher Bill Brent, along with specific Butte College classes, earning them college and high school credits. A major advantage of this program over Concurrent Enrollment is that these students get priority registration, meaning they have a better chance of getting into their Butte College classes.

Current Juniors who are interested in participating during the next school year, please contact Bill Brent.  Sign-ups will begin in January the following school year.

The Reg2Go program allows high school seniors to participate in orientation, assessment, counseling, and registration at Butte College prior to the end of their senior year. The program is designed for:

  • High school seniors who may never have considered themselves "college material"

  • High school seniors who know they want to attend Butte College

  • High school seniors who are still weighing their options
